Image
Tena Koutou, This week Room 10 have been very busy completing maths goals, reading, writing  and carrying out investigations including making Stop Motion movies.   Today students have brought home an invitation inviting parents and caregivers to our class next Tuesday.  We would like to invite parents, caregivers, siblings and grandparents of Room 10 students anytime from 2pm till 4pm.  From 2pm to 2.45pm we will be busy investigating our 'Passion Projects' and from 3pm to 4pm the class will be open for you and your Room 10 child to move around the classroom and discuss the displays on show. We have WOW words up on the wall to help students add interesting vocabulary to their writing.  Here are some of the samples of the writing happening in Room 10. We hope to see you next Tuesday. Year 3 & 4 Sports Session

On Tuesday, the Sunshine team walked down to Redwood Park to take part in a combined Tawa Primary School fun sports session.  There were a variety of different games such as Rob the Nest, Tag, Paper, Scissors, Rock and lots of others.  The focus was on participation, encouraging others and having fun!  The Sunshine Team students showed a great attitude and were amazingly energetic given how hot it was. A reminder to parents and family members that on Tuesday 4 April from 2- 4pm you are invited to come into Room 10 to view the classroom displays and find out what your child have been discovering in our 'Investigation Times' that started in week 6.  These sessions are student led so the child decides what they are interested in researching or discovering. Check out our photos from the sports session. Julie and Sam

Capital E Arts Festival

Wow, what a fantastic day of stimulation and creativity. The three shows that we attended were Cheese, Young and Cinematic and Chop Chop Hiyaa! starring Anika Moa. All three items were very different and our senses were stimulated on a wide range of levels. The walk between venues of Mac's Function Centre, City Gallery and Wellington Opera House were also interesting  for the students and they were discussing everything they saw and noticed.  We found a closed in grass area near Civic Square for students to run around and even the motorbikes on the side of the road were of interest to a group of students. Thank you to our Room 10 parents Bo, Nicole and Josephine for their patience and diligence today. Special thanks to Mrs H and Mrs Hallihan for the organizing of the trip.  Check out the photos. First Week of Investigations

Tena Korua, This week we completed our first two investigation sessions for the week.  We have had a natural world theme with "provocations"such as a cooking station where students must plan and then cook, presenting the lifecycle of a butterfly in a diagram, construction etc, follow a set of instructions to make a paper flower, co-opoerative activities around the hungry caterpillar story with a co-operative focus, growing macro plants, using Ministry of Fisheries resources students learnt when do you throw a fish back?  Measure fish and decide they should be thrown back into the water or kept for eating. Create a poster with pictures and minimal words about one thing you learnt from the Fishing show and make it into a poster for others to see and learn from,  Create a piece of writing giving information to Jan about two things you learnt from the Iwi Kiwi Show - www.hiwithe kiwi.co.nz , finally growing micro greens and a game about recycling. So as you can see the
