Week 8 - Matariki Celebration

Kia Ora, We have a new teacher aide that spends the morning in Room 10, her name is Jane and she is already part of our whanau and has endless patience and smiles.   Room 10 have been having a great time learning about Matariki this week.  They produced some writing outlining the meaning of Matariki and the symbolism of the Maori New Year. They have also taken part in a variety of different activities. We have our Inquiry Expo next Wednesday from 2 to 4pm.  We hope you can make it in to class to check out what your child has been learning about this term. We have two more Thursday swimming sessions and then a swimming sports at Tawa Pool in Week 10.  We also have our final assembly for the term next week on Friday at 2.20pm. Sunshine Team Hip Hop Performance: Assembly Week 7

The Sunshine Team Hip Hop Group performed at assembly today.  they have been learning a dance through the Friday Arts Programme with the talented Julie Boyd.  They showed great rhythm and groovy moves performing to the school. Well done Sunshine Team on a great performance.

Week 6 - Life Education - Cyber Safety

Talofa Room 10 were lucky enough to visit the Life Education Van today.  They visited in two groups. The main points from todays lesson were: Safety rules for using electronic devices.  Think before you click! Let your parents know before you reply to strangers that message you online or on your phone. Ask your parents before you give out personal information such as your name, address or passwords online to anyone. To tell your teachers or parents if there is anything online that you have received that you are worried about or unsure about. Ask an adult before you download games.  They may cost money.  Not to go on inappropriate games always ask an adult if you are unsure. Use an app like Kiddle as your search engine. The students always enjoy visiting the van and the highlight is always the visit from Harold.  We will visit again next Wednesday morning after Morning Tea.
